BARRAMUNDI FISHING

In the great North-West of Western Australia, on the eastern side of The Kimberley, runs the mighty Ord River. This unique river system is home to the wild barramundi, a prized sportfish and desirable catch for any angler.

THE THRILL OF CATCHING WILD BARRAMUNDI!
Barramundi love the warmer weather. For the keen angler, the time after ‘the Wet’ is a good time to visit – late March to early June. The weather in June, July and August is great for camping and very pleasant on the river. Ultimate Adventures will fish through this time resulting in some great catches. Then in the hotter weather, late August through to end October, the barra stir up, producing some exhilarating fishing!

Hairy Dog’s Fishing Camp
Safaris depart daily from Hairy Dog’s Fishing Camp set up bush style on the historic Bend of the Ord, 1 hour’s 4WD ex Kununurra. Visitors can enjoy a full day or stay overnight for two or more days at the camp enjoying outback hospitality and scenic river views.

Bush Surrounds and lots of birdlife
Nature-lovers will enjoy visiting as the area is prolific with birdlife, tropical wildlife and big crocodiles. Mr Croc is a frequent visitor to the banks near the camp providing a perfect opportunity for keen photographers.
